In the beginning with a personal savings of $40,000, Dawn started Brinson Benefits. April 1, 1996 was a rather meek beginning with a small office, glass table and a telephone, all of which were borrowed. Dawn had inadvertently fallen into the industry 10 years prior when she took the job as a Secretary in the underwriting department of an insurance company in downtown Fort Worth.
Patient Advocacy was an early initiative at Brinson Benefits, starting just one year after the company began. The Purple Card was launched in 1997. Dawn sensed a frustration from clients with claims delays, claim denials and incorrect billing from providers.
“We represent the best interest of the patient – not the insurance company!” Dawn would say.
The Purple Card services are designed to improve the health care experience. It gives the patient the prompt and personal service of a dedicated representative to handle issues on their behalf.
In the first year, The Purple Card initiative recovered more than $70,000 in claims that were denied, delayed, processed wrong or billed wrong. As of December, 2019 the Purple Card has audited more than $46,000,000 in claims and recovered $17,856,423 – that’s a recovery rate of 38.6%!
Because of our passion for advocacy, the Brinson Benefits tag line is: Just Pull Out your Purple Card!
The way we plan to achieve our goals in 2020 and beyond is to focus on taking clients and prospects through our unique, strategic process call the “Optimizer”. The Optimizer process was launched in 2007 and is the leverage creator for clients – a proprietary methodology that expands perspective, elevates performance and transforms your employee benefit programs from a necessary evil into a meaningful differentiator.
Our Blueprint reveals 6 distinct toolboxes to our clients. They are: Advocacy, Cost Control, Compliance, Efficiency, Education and Communication.
Brinson Benefits success is well documented and shared openly with clients not only in terms of innovative cost savings strategies and renewal results, but in our passion for advocacy to represent the best interests of small and midsized employers and their employees.
